Workstations and Desks
A desk or bureau is a piece of furniture with a flat table-style work surface that is used for academic, professional, or domestic activities such as reading, writing, or using equipment such as a computer in a school, office, home, or the like. Desks frequently have one or more drawers, compartments, or pigeon holes for storing items like office supplies and papers. Desks are typically made of wood or metal, though glass is occasionally used.
A shelf (storage) is a flat horizontal surface that is used for displaying and storing items.
Stools were among the first types of seat furniture. It resembles a chair in many ways. It consists of a single seat for one person, with no back or armrests (in early stools), and one, two, three, or four legs on a stool’s base. A stool is distinguished from a chair by the absence of arms and a back.
