A table is a piece of furniture with a flat top and one or more legs that is used as a surface for working, eating, or storing items. The dining room table is used for seated people to eat meals; the coffee table is a low table used in living rooms to display items or serve refreshments; and the bedside table is used to place an alarm clock and a lamp. There are also specialized types of tables, such as drafting tables, which are used to create architectural drawings, and sewing tables.
